Not too long ago a Milwaukee Brewers prospect tied a Biloxi Shuckers franchise record for the most consecutive games getting on base. That 27 game on-base streak was previously held by Cooper Hummel. Since then the Brew Crew’s fifth overall prospect has continued to get on base and now has a MiLB league leading 33 game on-base streak.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect Tyler Black has a MiLB leading 33 game on-base streak.
Tyler Black, a former 33rd overall pick in the 2021 MLB draft, struggled to stay healthy last season, but this year his performance to date has his prospect stock rapidly ascending. Over the last 33 contests he has reached base safely at least once in large part due to a 20 percent walk rate and .417 on base percentage.
Once on base Tyler Black is wasting no time getting into scoring position. During his on-base streak he has stolen 29 bases. Overall this season he has swiped 35 and has only been caught on four occasions.
Statistics wise the season batting average sits at .242, but the on-base percentage is .423 and slugging is .424. This equates to a .847 OPS. So far this season he is very close to a 1:1 walk to strikeout ratio as he has 45 walks and 49 strikeouts.
Tyler Black is currently 22 years old and playing in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers. If he continues to play well he could earn a promotion to Triple-A this season.
