The Milwaukee Brewers minor league farm system entered the 2024 season ranked as one of the best in the league. This has remained true despite Jackson Chourio and Joey Ortiz graduating from prospect status.
MLB Pipeline currently ranks flame throwing Jacob Misiorowski as their top prospect in the organization. Catcher Jeferson Quero, infielder Tyler Black, pitcher Robert Gasser, and infielder Brock Wilken make up the top five. Even with all this talent a 19 year old playing for the Carolina Mudcats ended up taking home May’s Minor League Player of the Month award.

The Carolina Mudcats, a Single-A minor league affiliate team of the Milwaukee Brewers, have several young and talented players on their roster this year. One of those includes 19 year old Cooper Pratt. He was drafted in the sixth round of the MLB draft last year and his efforts during the month of May earned him recognition from his organization.

Shane Smith wins the Brewers Minor League Player of the Month award as a pitcher.
May’s Minor League Pitcher of the Month went to right-handed hurler Shane Smith. He is currently playing in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers. Smith is 24 years old, is in his third season with the Brewers organization, posted a 1.74 ERA across three minor league levels last year, and is looking good this year as his season stats compose of a 3.74 ERA across 33.2 innings pitched (13 games total and four games started).

Arizona Complex League Player of the Month awards were also announced.
The Brewers also announced which pitcher and hitter earned player of the month while playing in the Arizona Complex League. 2023 international signee Filippo Di Turi was the hitter of the month and was then subsequently promoted to the Carolina Mudcats. Hayden Robinson was the pitcher of the month.
