The Milwaukee Brewers farm system has been on the rise over the past few seasons. Players like Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, Brice Turang, Joey Wiemer, and Abner Uribe have all graduated out of prospect status but Jackson Chourio, Jeferson Quero, Tyler Black, Robert Gasser, Carlos Rodriguez, and Jacob Misiorowski are all knocking on the door of MLB playing time.
Looking beyond the above mentioned players and to the wave of upcoming talent after that group you have to start with 19 year old Luis Lara. Hitting for average, getting on base, and stealing bases was the switch hitters calling card a season ago through two levels of A-Ball. Additionally, Milwaukee showed early on that they are not afraid to advance him quickly through the minor leagues and he could be on the same trajectory that Jackson Chourio followed.
Just behind Lara on the prospect ranking board is Cooper Pratt. Pratt fell in the 2023 draft and ended up being a sixth round pick. As a High School player he was Gatorade’s player of the year and drew comparisons to Gunner Henderson.
After these two teenagers Yophery Rodriguez, Josh Knoth, Dylan O’Rae, Filippo Di Turi, and Luke Adams round out some of the Crews top prospects. According to MLB pipeline 18 year old Yophery Rodriguez is primed to breakout in 2024.
Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Yophery Rodriguez primed to breakout in 2024.
In January of 2022 Yophery Rodriguez signed with the Brewers as an International free agent. He was labeled one of the best pure hitters in the class and as a result was ranked as one of the best outfielders. Prior to signing he had been training with former major league player Carlos Guillen and he earned a signing bonus of $1.5 million.

Last year Milwaukee had Yophery Rodriguez playing in the Dominican Summer League. Over 52 games he posted an OPS of .842, he walked (41) more times than he struck out (40), and he stole 12 bases. Despite his young age he could begin the 2024 season in A-Ball.
Milwaukee has a recent history of skipping talented outfielders over the Arizona Complex League and sending them from the Dominican complex to Single-A in their second years, doing that with Jackson Chourio in 2022 and Luis Lara last year. Could Rodriguez be next? The teenager showed the makings of an above-average hitter with a .393 OBP and 41/40 BB/K ratio in 52 DSL games in 2023, and his power is coming along fine for his age. A little more physical maturation and continued production stateside, regardless of level, could make him a bigger name in a burgeoning Brewers pipeline.
Next summer Yophery Rodirguez will be one player to keep an eye on. The Brewers have done a very nice job of finding International talent recently and if he breaks out as predicted he could be a prospect whose stock rises quickly.
