The Milwaukee Brewers are 36-23 despite an insane amount of injuries to their starting rotation. Brandon Woodruff, of course, was ruled out for the season during Spring Training. Wade Miley started the year on the injured list as well. With Corbin Burnes traded to the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee entered the 2024 season with a starting rotation of Freddy Peralta, Colin Rea, Joe Ross, Jakob Junis, and DL Hall.
Of those five pitchers, three of them are currently on the injured list. Additionally, Miley was ruled out for the season after he came back from IL for two games. He needs Tommy John surgery again.
Needless to say, the Brewers’ starting rotation has been a patchwork of players this season. Rookies Tobias Myers and Robert Gasser have each taken several turns in the rotation. Recently Myers was sent back down to Triple-A. Unfortunately, Gasser might be heading to the same place so many Brewers pitchers have gone before him this year: the IL.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Reveals Robert Gasser Has Elbow Soreness

Of their two rookie starting pitchers, Gasser is the one having the most success. In five starts, he is 2-0 with a 2.59 ERA. In his last start, Gasser pitched five innings of three run ball, giving up seven hits and three walks.
Milwaukee ended up winning that game in 10 innings thanks to the heroics of Willy Adames. However, it sounds like Gasser may have exited that game with an elbow injury.
Prior to the Brewers’ game against the Phillies on Monday night, manager Pat Murphy revealed to the media that Gasser is getting his elbow looked at in Los Angeles:
The Brewers are sending LHP Robert Gasser – who threw five innings on Saturday – to get his elbow checked out, manager Pat Murphy said. “He just had some tightness; soreness. We’re going to take a look, making sure he’s 100 percent.”

Fans may recall that Gasser opened the season on the IL with bone spurs in his elbow.
Who Can the Milwaukee Brewers Call Up in Robert Gasser Goes on IL?

If Gasser has to go on IL, it is possible that the Brewers could recall Myers again. When he got sent down, they called up Janson Junk from Triple-A.
If Milwaukee wants to give Myers more time in Nashville, they could recall Aaron Ashby, but he is just 1-3 with a 6.80 ERA in nine starts (10 games). Carlos Rodriguez is an intriguing prospect who is ranked sixth in the Brewers’ farm system. He got off to a rough start this season, but has been better as of late. Overall, he is 4-5 with a 5.49 ERA.
Chad Patrick probably has the best numbers of any of the starters in Nashville, with a 4-1 record and 3.21 ERA in nine starts.
