The Milwaukee Brewers, according to multiple reports, are “contemplating” whether to relocate amid negotiations for taxpayer-funded renovations to American Family Field. It is possible that these relocation rumors are just a negotiating tactic to scare government officials into helping get the $448 million in renovations needed. According to Brewers principal owner Mark Attanasio the goal is to keep baseball in Milwaukee here for several more generations.
Milwaukee Brewers principal owner Mark Attansio provided a reassuring statement regarding relocation rumors.
During a recent interview Mark Attansio provided reassurance that he wants the Brewers to stay in Milwaukee. He also indicated that talks right now are about getting something in place to last until 2050.
“Me, Debbie, our family — we very much want to stay to stay here. That’s all I’ve considered at this point.”
“The simple fact is, the district is going to run out of money in the next couple years, and so we’re trying to address the future of the ballpark before it runs out of money. And not in a Band-Aid kind of way.”
“Whatever the speculation is, my goal is to be here and if the the politicians say 2050, I say great, until 2050.”
“We talk about clubhouse chemistry, and I think we have very good chemistry with the politicians in terms of having a shared goal. And the goal is to keep this team here for another generation. Whether that’s 2040 or now, frankly, they’re talking about 2050, which, great by me. We just want to keep the stadium looking great and keep making this a wonderful place for the community to gather.”“I’m optimistic, and we just have to get the three constituencies — which would be the Governor, the Assembly and the Senate — to come together.”
