The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Chicago Cubs on opening day and Luis Urias got injured in the process. During his last at-bat he dove head first into first base and was shown grabbing his left hamstring. At this time the extent of his injury is not known.
Luis Urias injured his hamstring during his last at-bat on opening day.
In the ninth inning, Urias hit a ball back to the pitcher. The play at first base was close and he elected to dive head first. Afterwards he was seen grabbing the back portion of his left leg.

3B could be filled by Brian Anderson/ Owen Miller – Could we see one of Wiemer/Frelick come up? https://t.co/c20UUc4qFm pic.twitter.com/7pStviyIPK

During a post game press conference Craig Counsell’s update on Luis Urias was, “He’s got a hamstring issue. He came in here with the adrenaline pumping still, so we’ll let him calm down and then evaluate it.” Reports have also indicated that he will return to Milwaukee during the teams off day on Friday for further testing.
Should Urias need to miss time and be placed on the injured list, the team will need someone to fill in at third base. Brian Anderson started in right field on opening day and likely will remain there until Tyrone Taylor returns or the team calls up an outfield prospect such as Joey Wiemer or Sal Frelick. It seems unlikely that they will call up an outfield prospect.
Other active roster options include Mike Brosseau and Owen Miller. Abraham Toro was optioned to the Minor Leagues and could also be called upon to fill in if needed.
