The Milwaukee Brewers unfortunately have had a few batters under perform this season. Two of them are currently rehabbing back from injury. Traditional first baseman Rowdy Tellez is currently with the Nashville Sounds whereas designated hitter/outfielder Jesse Winker is making his rehab stint debut tonight with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Prior to the Timber Rattlers 6:35 PM CT start against the Cedar Rapid Kernals a lineup was released. A few eye-catching changes to their lineup was that freshly promoted Luis Lara was batting leadoff and on his rehab stint debut Jesse Winker was batting second and playing first base.

Jesse Winker is seeing reps at first base prior to attempting a comeback to the Milwaukee Brewers.
At the end of July Jesse Winker was placed on the IL with back spasms. He has had a few trips to the IL this year in what has been a dreadful season. The fact that he is seeing reps at first base, which is a position that he has never played in game action before, is likely a last ditch effort to improve his value to the Brewers should his bat turn the corner enough to warrant coming back to the big leagues.
Winker will have a maximum of 20 days to spend on rehab assignment. It is possible that Milwaukee will want to utilize as much of this time as possible for if his bat heats up a return to the Brewers to backup first basemen/designated hitters Carlos Santana, Mark Canha, and Rowdy Tellez could be warranted. Should he not perform to expectations it is possible that he could be designated for assignment.
