We knew this day for Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers was coming. Entering the 2023 season Baseball America had the highly regarded Venezuelan outfielder ranked third overall among all prospects. The two prospects ahead of him were Gunner Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles and Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Both Henderson and Carroll have reached 130 MLB at-bats and are no longer considered prospects. This means that Jackson Chourio is now the top ranked prospect in baseball according to Baseball America.

Jackson Chourio, who is currently 18 years old, is starting the 2023 MiLB season at the Brewers Double-A affiliate the Biloxi Shuckers. He spent the final week of the 2022 season at this level, so it’s not surprising that this is where Milwaukee has him starting off.
During the offseason, Brewers manager Craig Counsell made some surprising comments in saying that Jackson Chourio making his MLB debut in 2023 could be a possibility. There are a lot of confounding factors that go into this including health, his performance, the current makeup and performance of Milwaukee’s young and crowded MLB outfield, and not too mention how well Sal Frelick in the minor leagues performs.
It seems like a long shot that Jackson Chourio debuts in Major League Baseball in 2023, but hopefully he can have a healthy and successful season no matter which level(s) he plays at.
