Baseball America has released its 2023 Top 100 Prospects list and the young superstar Jackson Chourio has been slotted in as the number three prospect behind Gunner Henderson of the Orioles and Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks.
Henderson and Carroll are both expected to be in the major leagues early in 2023. This opens the door for Chourio to take the number one slot.
In 2022 Chourio slashed .288/ .342/ .538. As an eighteen-year-old, Chourio spent time in Biloxi, Carolina and Appleton. He also made an appearance in the 2022 Futures Game.
What’s Next for Jackson Chourio?

The young phenom from Venezuela still has some time before he finds himself in the big leagues for good. However, during the winter meetings, Brewers manager Craig Counsell did not rule out the possibility of seeing him soon.
“I don’t know why [not],” said Counsell. “He did so much that why would you say you’re not open to it?”
Although seeing Chourio this season is a long shot, the mention of the possibility from Counsell says a lot about what the Brewers think about him. Chourio would become one of the highest-ranking Brewers prospects ever if he were to end up as the top prospect in the sport.
Chourio is a righty outfielder who has played his highest level of baseball for the AA Biloxi Shuckers. It is unlikely that he will be in a Brewers uniform in 2023 since his ETA is 2024, but surely there will be plenty of excitement surrounding him for the minor league season. Hopefully, Chourio can move up to Nashville quickly just as he has through the rest of the minor league system.
