This year it seems like the words Milwaukee Brewers and injured list have been used together in seemingly every sentence. The injury bug has hit both position players and the pitching staff hard to begin the 2023 season. They currently have four starting pitchers on the IL and four position players who were primed to have significant roles with the team. Prior to the Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays series they placed their designated hitter on the injured list and provided an update on three other players who are on the path to recovery.
The Milwaukee Brewers have placed Jesse Winker on the IL and provided an injury update on three others.
A day after Luke Voit was DFA’d after rehabbing from a cervical strain, designated hitter Jesse Winker was placed on the IL with a cervical strain of his own. Winker had off-season surgery on his neck and the Brewers have indicated his placement on the IL is to get him back to a better place physically for it started bugging him a few days ago.
Luis Urias, who was eligible to be reinstated today after being placed on the 60-day IL with a hamstring injury sustained on opening day, will continue to rehab. This isn’t a setback by any means but rather the Brewers want him to play more prior to rejoining the big league club.
Lastly Milwaukee provided an update on pitchers Eric Lauer and Matt Bush. Lauer has been out with impingement to his non-throwing shoulder and Bush rotator cuff tendinitis. The plan is for them to both throw bullpens on the current road trip and then go on rehab next week upon returning home.
