The Milwaukee Brewers have been on a tear to begin the season. After losing on opening day to the Chicago Cubs, the Brew Crew have won six games in a row that includes three shutouts in their last four games. Their latest victim was the St. Louis Cardinals in which they won by a score of 4-0.
Earlier in the week, the Milwaukee Brewers shutout the New York Mets on back-to-back nights while also simultaneously slugging a bunch of home runs. On Friday night the pitching staff continued their dominance and the offense had more walks (eight) than strikeouts (six).
The Milwaukee Brewers collect another shutout and extend their winning streak to six games.
Brandon Woodruff was on the mound Friday night for Milwaukee and he covered the first 5.1 innings. Joel Payamps, Gus Varland, Hoby Milner, Matt Bush, and Bryse Wilson all had scoreless outings as the Brewers collected their third team shutout. This is currently the most in baseball.
Offensively, a Rowdy Tellez sacrifice fly and Garrett Mitchell RBI single got the Crew on the board in the third inning. Christian Yelich added a bases loaded RBI groundout in the sixth inning and Willy Adames a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Milwaukee’s five through nine hitters came up big in this game. They all collected at least one hit and reached base multiple times. The three “freshmen” in the lineup were a big part of this game and they again found ways to impact the outcome.
Game two of the series will be Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 6:10 PM CT. Eric Lauer is scheduled to be in the mound for the Brewers and Jordan Montgomery for the Cardinals.
