There’s one thing that has fans and analysts abuzz about the Milwaukee Brewers this season, and it’s the number two prospect in baseball: Jackson Chourio. He’s impressing almost everyone he encounters, including other prospects in the farm system.
Jackson Chourio Turning Heads of Prospects
The results are in, and plenty of his teammates say the same thing: he’s special. This includes the number 12 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers system, Eric Brown Jr. The 23-year-old shortstop wanted the world to know that he thinks that Jackson Chourio is a generational talent.

It seems like a lot to put on the shoulders of one player, but so far, Jackson Chourio has been living up to the hype that so many other top prospects have both failed to live up to and far exceeded.
Milwaukee Brewers Prospect Ready for the Spotlight
Jackson Chourio was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers out of Venezuela when he was 17 years old. He was given a $1.9 million signing bonus and debuted with the Dominican Summer League Brewers.
That’s where he hit the ground running.
He skyrocketed through the minors, moving up to Double-A the following season, where he struggled a bit in six games.
It didn’t hold him down long, as he returned in 2023 as a 19-year-old and tore up Double-A and Triple-A. Between the two leagues, he’d play in 128 games, hit 22 home runs, steal 44 bags, have 150 hits, and 26 doubles. He’d slash .280/.336/.467 in Double-A and .333/.375/.476 in Triple-A. All signs indicated that he was special, displaying speed, power, contact, and fielding abilities.
The Milwaukee Brewers think so highly of Jackson Chourio that they gave him an 8-year 82 million dollar deal with two club options. This contract would be the highest by a player who hasn’t seen any time with the big club, eclipsing Luis Robert Jr.’s 6-year 50 million dollar pact with the Chicago White Sox.
It hasn’t phased him at all.
Jackson Chourio showed up this Spring Training ready to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster, and he’s giving the Milwaukee Brewers no reason to put him back in the minors, especially with no service time manipulation needed given his contract.
So far this Spring, he’s played in 11 games and slashed .308/.342/.385 with three doubles and only nine strikeouts. It being Spring Training, he may be working on some things in his swing that haven’t translated to power yet, as he has no homers.
He was named to the Milwaukee Brewers’ Spring Breakout lineup and showed up to play, showcasing blazing speed and contact skills as well.
Jackson Chourio made it to second base after the Royals infielder couldn’t handle the ball.
Moral of the story. Chourio is fast and he had great awareness to this play.

Time will tell if Chourio is ready for the big leagues, but all signs point to him being the generational talent his peers view him as.
