The Milwaukee Brewers will begin spring training games this weekend and outfielder Jackson Chourio is looking to be one of the Opening Day starters in 2024 for Milwaukee. He spent all of last season in the minor leagues with the Biloxi Shuckers in Double-A and the Nashville Sounds in Triple-A.
According to a depth chart on ESPN, it has Chourio is listed as the current starting fielder for the Brewers in 2024. If that were to happen right away, it would be interesting to see where manager Pat Murphy would have batting in the batting order.
Chourio is only 19 years old and will turn 20 years old on March 11. That will be just a little over two weeks before the season begins.
Jackson Chourio told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com by saying in Spanish:
“My number one goal is to start the season in The Show. I’m going to do my best and show who I am. That’s all that matters.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers Chourio is going to put in spring training before the Brewers make that decision as to whether or not to have him on the Opening Day roster. The projected starting outfield along with Chourio for Milwaukee for Opening Day as of now is Christian Yelich in left field and Sal Frelick in right field.
Jackson Chourio is Happy That the Milwaukee Brewers Have Supported Him Along the Way
He has been in the Brewers farm system since 2021. Chourio is from Venezuela. There have been a lot of successful MLB players from that country. Mugiel Cabrera came from that country and he had a very long MLB career.
Jackson Chourio also told McCalvy by saying in Spanish:
“I’m just grateful for all of the support the Brewers have given me from the very beginning. Many people have helped me get here starting with my family. I’m doing it for them as much as I am for myself. I want to be an example and a role model. It’s a responsibility that I have to be a good player and a good brother.”
Chourio hopes to be one of the leaders in the clubhouse for the Milwaukee Brewers right away. With his potential as a superstar for the Brewers for years to come, it feels important for him to be a good teammate and character guy with the organization for the long haul and hopefully, he will be starting in center field on Opening Day in 2024.
