Joey Wiemer, one of the Milwaukee Brewers “freshman”, has been getting every day center field reps this year after his teammate Garrett Mitchell went down with a shoulder injury that required surgical intervention.  His defense has been phenomenal, but his offensive production has been streaky.

At the plate Joey Wiemer has a rather unorthodox swing.  There is a lot of power with his approach, but at the time of this publication his production had been streaky.  This is evidenced by a .201/.265/.343 slash line with a 65 wRC+.

Despite this, he has had some offensive highlights this year.  Against the Kansas City Royals he recorded his first career walk off.  Most recently against the Houston Astros he hit the Brewers second longest home run of the year.

The only home run by a Milwaukee Brewer that was hit further this year was a Christian Yelich home run against the Kansas City Royals that traveled 433 feet.  He just edged out a 429 foot Rowdy Tellez long ball and 427 foot William Contreras home run.

Joey Wiemer had a ton of success at the plate in the minor leagues.  Hopefully this home run can be the start of a hot streak for him.
