The Milwaukee Brewers have dealt with numerous injuries to pitchers this calendar year. A few of the pitchers requiring lengthy recovery times include Brandon Woodruff, who missed significant time during the season, Justin Wilson, who spent the first seven months of the year rehabbing back from elbow surgery only to sustain a new injury while warming up for his debut with the team, and Aaron Ashby who had issues creep up during the off-season in which he eventually underwent shoulder surgery for this April.
Unfortunately a report from Adam McCalvy has indicated that southpaw Aaron Ashby will not figure into the Brewers bullpen this season. He will however continue to build a foundation by making a few more scheduled rehab appearances in the minor leagues over the next few weeks with the Biloxi Shuckers and the Nashville Sounds.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby is not expected to join the team’s bullpen this season.
Prior to starting a rehab assignment it was a known fact that Aaron Ashby did not have his velocity back. There were no other reported setbacks in regards to surgical complications or pain, but rather the speed of his pitches was not back to normal.
For reference a season ago Aaron Ashby averaged 96 MPH with his fastball, 89 MPH with his change up, and 84 MPH with the slider. Since being on rehab assignment with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers the Brewers have not released where his velocity currently sits, but everything he does the remainder of the 2023 baseball season is with the intention of setting a good foundation for 2024.
