After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday with a score of 34-20, the Green Bay Packers have fallen to 6-8 on the season and still sit in third place amongst the NFC North. The 34 points scored by Tampa Bay ties the most points Green Bay’s given up in a single game all season.

Baker Mayfield had the best game of his career on Sunday versus Green Bay, throwing for 381 yards and 4 touchdowns with a perfect 158.3 passer rating. Not only is this the best game of Mayfield’s career, but it is the first time in history that any opposing quarterback has thrown for a perfect passer rating in Lambeau Field.
Chris Godwin was Mayfield’s favorite target today, catching 10 balls for 155 yards in Sunday’s contest. Godwin was questionable for the game with a knee injury, but clearly looked 100 percent with the stat line he put up. Mike Evans also caught 4 of his 6 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter.
The Packers dealt with injuries in the secondary due to Darnell Savage and Jaire Alexander being ruled out before kickoff. Which helped Mayfield and the Buccaneers push the ball down the field through the air, but throwing for a perfect passer rating against any NFL defense is no easy task. Baker’s performance keeps the Buccaneers on top of the NFC South with a 7-7 record.
Rookie Wide Receiver Steps Up with Christian Watson on the Sidelines versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Christian Watson was ruled out for Sunday’s game versus Tampa Bay after not practicing all week with his hamstring injury he re-aggravated versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Which left the rest of the Packers pass catchers with extra snaps.
Dontayvion Wicks was able to craft his best performance as a Packer so far in the loss, catching 6 of his 7 targets for 97 yards leading all Green Bay pass catchers on the day. This is a new career high for Wicks, who continues to improve since being drafted 159th overall in this year’s draft. If Watson is expected to miss more time, expect Wicks to continue producing in his absence.

Jayden Reed also added 6 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter, making an incredible grab on the sideline to bring Green Bay within three points. Reed’s game was cut short however due to a toe injury he suffered in the fourth quarter. He went in the medical tent before being ruled questionable to return, but was not seen the rest of the contest.
Jordan Love finished the contest with 284 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. While Love had an efficient game completing 29 of his 39 pass attempts with no turnovers, it wasn’t enough to outscore the Buccaneers behind Baker Mayfield’s career day.
The Packers must win at least two of their last three regular season games to have a chance at a playoff spot. Their next opportunity will come Sunday, where they will travel to Carolina to take on Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers.
