Devondre Campbell was a talented addition to the Green Bay Packers. In his all-pro 2021 season, he racked up 145 tackles, two sacks, four QB hits, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and five passes defensed in 16 games. This effort resulted in him being re-signed to a five-year 50 million dollar contract to stay in Green Bay.
Never quite being able to live up to the extension, De’Vondre Campbell struggled to stay healthy, missing 10 games in his 2022 and 23 campaigns. Missing six games to ankle and neck injuries, De’Vondre Campbell finished the 2023 season with 75 tackles, no sacks, one pass defended, and one fumble recovery.

Pushing Campbell’s release to Wednesday opens up $10.5 million dollars of useable cap for the Green Bay Packers. Not the first or last cap maneuver from the Green Bay Packers, as they have freed up space with contract restructures of Rashan Gary and Preston Smith. Now this leaves more than $20 million dollars for the Green Bay Packers to pursue players to fill gaps in their roster.
In Jeff Hafley’s defense, the cutting of De’Vondre Campbell leaves more opportunity for Quay Walker to roam the free field to make plays in the passing game. Now with more cap space to work with, the Green Bay Packers have more flexibility to add to positions like safety, cornerback, and running back.
