San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is simply in disbelief of the growth Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has shown throughout the season.
The Packers started off slow, going 2-5 throughout their first seven games of the campaign. At that point, all hope was lost, with the finger-pointing and blame game enveloping the team. There were also plenty of concerns about Love’s future with the team, especially after his early struggles.
Ever since that slow start, however, the Packers lost just three times behind Love’s incredible play. In the first seven games of the year, the Green Bay QB threw 11 touchdowns but had eight interceptions. In the team’s final 10 games, he had 21 passing touchdowns against just three interceptions.
That massive turnaround has been the primary reason why the Packers were able to make a late run for a playoff spot, eventually clinching the final Wild Card spot in the NFC with a win over the Chicago Bears.

During his media presser on Tuesday, ahead of their divisional round game, Kyle Shanahan was asked to comment about Jordan Love’s growth and what has stood out to him . The San Francisco 49ers tactician admitted that Love’s consistency has been his strongest point throughout their recent hot streak.
Shanahan is particularly impressed by the way Love has taken care of the ball, even describing it as an “unbelievable” feat.
“He’s come a long way because he’s playing at such a high level. To get thrown in there early this year and have to go through some ups and downs, which he did some good things earlier in this year too. To not win all those games, when you’re with a tough record in your first year, the pressure that comes with that, and just to watch him each game, he’s been consistent,” Shanahan said of Love, per 49ers WebZone.
“For him to take care of the ball the way he has done has been unbelievable. The 21 touchdowns and one pick, I think, over the last 10 games is unbelievable. He’s extremely consistent in what they’re asking him to do. [Green Bay Packers head coach] Matt’s [LaFleur] very good at coaching the quarterback and you can see that their quarterback is buying in. He plays very well in their system and makes a lot of plays. He has a big arm and is a big dude too.”
Sure enough, Shanahan and his 49ers will hope to put an end to that incredible run by Love and the Packers. Though as the San Francisco head coach would know, it’s easier said than done.
