With a 24-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Saturday night, the Green Bay Packers’ season is officially over. With it comes the end of the team’s quest to stun everyone by reaching the Super Bowl in Jordan Love’s first campaign as the starting quarterback.
Although Love and the Packers had a tremendous season and an impressive performance against San Francisco, their showing during the final minutes of the game led to a monumental collapse that had everyone talking.
It all started with a missed field goal by Anders Carlson, which, in turn, led to a touchdown for the 49ers. Love, for his part, could have seized the game, but a wild pass that was intercepted sealed the Packers’ fate and resulted in a loss to San Francisco.
Jordan Love Sounds Off on Biggest Lessons in His First Season as the Green Bay Packers’ Quarterback
Even if the Packers’ season ended on a sour note, Love still looked at the situation in a more positive light. According to Jason B. Hirschhorn:
“Understanding where to go with the ball, seeing the defense a little bit better, being able to see pressures, and things like that. My overall understanding of what the defense is trying to do to us,” Love said
Ryan Wood of USA Today added more to what the Packers’ QB said about what he learned this season and what to expect in the next one:
“There’s so many things. I think just understanding how small the margin for error is in this league, especially in critical games like this when you win and advance, you lose and go home. Just how important every play is, and just how locked in you’ve got to be. How critical situations are at the end of the game to go win it, just how dialed in you’ve got to be to take advantage of those games and win,” Love shared.
“There’s so many areas, and so many lessons I’ve learned throughout this season and the team’s learned throughout this season, that I think it’s going to make us better in the future.”
With that declaration, it seems Love has his sights set on the future. Along with it comes a hope that the Packers can go beyond next season, especially if their quarterback takes another leap in performance.
