The Green Bay Packers shocked everyone but themselves this season. While their divisional round loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night was disappointing, it does not change the fact that they massively overachieved in 2023. Most importantly, they also found out that they have their third consecutive franchise quarterback in Jordan Love.
Love finished the regular season with a 64.2% completion percentage, 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also had a passer rating of 96.1 and a QBR of 62.0. All of these numbers surpassed both those of Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre in their first seasons as the starter for Green Bay:
Quarterback | Completion % | Yards | Touchdowns | Interceptions | Passer Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jordan Love | 64.2% | 4,159 | 32 | 11 | 96.1 |
Aaron Rodgers | 63.6% | 4,038 | 28 | 13 | 93.8 |
Brett Favre | 64.1% | 3,227 | 18 | 13 | 85.3 |
That all being said, Love’s season was far from perfect. Indeed, there were a great deal of learning moments that occurred as the result of mistakes that he made. Of course, the latest and most painful of which was his game-sealing interception against the 49ers on Saturday night, a throw that Love called “a mortal sin.”
Yet, the positives of Love’s game far outweigh the negatives. This past year, his first as the starter, is his floor. He will only continue to improve, and Love knows exactly the area he wants to focus on improving this offseason.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Wants to Be Better at the 2-Minute Drill
When speaking with the media after the game, Love was asked what he is looking to improve upon the most in the offseason. He replied:

“You know, obviously some of these two-minute drills to go win the game, you know, those we did not capitalize on throughout the season. So that will be an area to look at. But I think that there are just so many areas that I have to look at and break down the film.
“But I definitely think those critical situations, where you got to go down and win it. Got to find a way to figure out better answers and better solutions to find a way to win.”
This past season, Love led two fourth quarter comebacks and had three game-winning drives. However, losses to the Falcons, Broncos, Raiders, Steelers, and now the 49ers ended with failed offensive drives late in the fourth quarter.
