The Green Bay Packers signed De’Vondre Campbell as a free agent ahead of the 2021 season. The signing proved to be a bigger success than anyone expected. He was named a First Team All-Pro and inked a new deal with the team. In 2022 he dealt with some injuries and is looking to make a bigger impact in 2023. However, he missed his second straight practice with an ankle injury, and Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reported that the injury may be more serious than fans initially thought.
De’Vondre Campbell’s importance to the Green Bay Packers
Campbell has not only become an irreplaceable piece of the team, but he has also become a leader. On Wednesday he missed practice with an ankle injury and not much was thought of it. Many assumed that the team was being cautious with their veterans in the joint practice against the New England Patriots. Matt Schneidman reported that Campbell was not seen in the locker room after practice, but he noticed a walking boot and a scooter at his locker.
De’Vondre Campbell missed his second straight practice with an ankle injury. He wasn’t in locker room during post-practice media availability, but I saw a scooter and walking boot at his locker.

Even though Campbell was not as good as he was in his 2021 season, he was still a very important piece for the Green Bay Packers defense. He missed four games as a result of injuries but still racked up 96 tackles, two interceptions and even scored a touchdown. Needless to say, the Green Bay Packers defense would take a massive hit if De’Vondre Campbell misses time.
