It’s crazy to think that the AFC’s Lamar Hunt trophy has been won by the Kansas City Chiefs in 4 out of the last 5 years.
Despite having QBs such as Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson, Tom Brady, Tua Tagovailoa, CJ Stroud, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, and Phillip Rivers all playing at some point during that time, the Chiefs have made it to the big game on 4 occasions. Utterly insane.
It honestly seems like the best shot to dethrone the Chiefs in the postseason would be from an NFC team. Given how much parity has been in that conference since the ’90s Cowboys dynasty ended, any team that can get hot can truly win it all.
That includes the Green Bay Packers, who nearly upset both the mighty Cowboys and the 49ers in one fell swoop. Can the Packers repeat history and get Jordan Love one, if not multiple, rings? Can they do it against the Chiefs?
Realistically, When Can The Green Bay Packers Win A Super Bowl?
Despite reaching the divisional round in January, it might be too early to pound the drums for the Green Bay squad. Not because of a lack of raw talent (though there are questions there), but because of both player and coach turnover this off-season.
Joe Berry wasn’t the answer for the Green Bay Packers, as they parted ways after a poor defensive stretch in December. The Packers replaced him with Jeff Hafley from Boston College, whose track record is good but unproven at the pro level.
The Packers also have key players potentially leaving in free agency such as David Bahktiari and AJ Dillon, and with the cap space situation not exactly being perfect, next year might be another inconsistent rebuild year. They might make some moves to free up cap space, but it is far from an ideal scenario.
2025, however, might be the Packer’s year to get it all done. With the cap situation being much better and Love entering his 3rd season as a starter, the stars may align between the young talent on both sides of the ball, as well as the coaching.
Only time will tell, as for all we know, the Packers could win it all this year. It would come down to a mix of too much young talent to squander and a lot of luck.
How Would The Green Bay Packers Match Up Against The Kansas City Chiefs
With that being said, if the Packers in the next year or two come across the Chiefs, fortune may be in their favor.
Given how much Patrick Mahomes has struggled against the strong Packers pass rush in his 2 games against the Packers, a Super Bowl match shouldn’t be expected to be a high-scoring affair. If the Chief’s defense continues to get better, Love shouldn’t expect to put up a lot of points either.
The game between the two this year should be a good indicator of how things will go. If that’s the case then Packers fans should be happy, as the final score was 27-19 with Green Bay on top. Regardless, two Midwest teams with rabid fanbases should make a must-watch Super Bowl, especially if it ends up taking place in New Orleans.
