Just recently, the Green Bay Packers’ hope of making the Super Bowl this season ended with a 24-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Even though they dominated throughout the game, the final stretch proved to be too much for the team.
As analyzed by Rob Gronkowski, the Packers started to falter the moment Anders Carlson missed his kick. In turn, the 49ers responded with a touchdown run, courtesy of Christian McCaffrey. This play turned the tide for the Brock Purdy-led squad and helped them secure the win.
This could have been prevented, of course, had Jordan Love created a game-winning play of his own for the Packers. However, Love’s wild pass to no one ended his team’s quest for a Super Bowl appearance this season, much to the dismay of fans.
Anders Carlson’s future with the Green Bay Packers
After the game, Anders Carlson talked about what happened.
“It’s tough to do to these guys. That’s what hurts the worst. They’ve got a bright future ahead of them, but it definitely hurts,” Carlson shared, per Ryan Woods of USA Today.
While the first few parts of what he said pertain to his performance against the 49ers, Carlson’s inclusion of a bright future ahead of them hints that he and the Packers are going part ways. As it stands, though, there’s no solid confirmation yet that this will become a reality.
At this point in time, the Packers’ focus would be improving over the summer. As head coach Matt LaFleur pointed out about Carlson, the rookie needs to be more consistent to last in the league. These words can go both ways in the coming months. In any case, fans will have to stay tuned to find out what will happen to Anders Carlson.
