It wasn’t that long ago when Aaron Rodgers was lifting the Green Bay Packers and making them serious players in the NFL. While his final seasons with the team were impressive, the quarterback’s stance on COVID-19 almost made him a pariah.
Back when the pandemic started, the NFL was put on pause for a little while. But as soon as football games were allowed in a limited capacity, Rodgers went on a tear for the Packers in 2020 and 2021.
During those two seasons, Rodgers would go on to lead the NFL in every important quarterback-related statistic and make the Packers contenders. For his efforts, he was named MVP for two consecutive years, cementing him as one of Green Bay’s best players.
While this is going on, Rodgers would take a stand against COVID-19 vaccination. Due to this unpopular stance, his incredible run during those two seasons was overshadowed. In the end, the Packers traded him in 2023 to the New York Jets, and the 2010 Super Bowl MVP has been there for the past year.
Green Bay Packers Legend Aaron Rodgers Gets Real On Losing Millions Because of His COVID-19 Stance
Rodgers recently appeared on the Joe Rogan Show, and he spoke about his experience during the time vaccines were starting to roll out to the public. According to an article by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
“Look at my situation, I lost friends, allies in the media, millions of dollars in sponsorship because I talked about what worked for me in my own beliefs and my own health reasons why I didn’t get vaccinated,” Rodgers told Rogan.
Back then, Rodgers was very vocal about his opposition to COVID-19 vaccines. Essentially, the Packers legend was turned into a pariah for his stance on vaccination. In the process, he has lost not only millions of dollars, but the recognition of many.
What Rodgers is going to do next summer remains to be seen. But whether he retires or not, there’s no denying the impact he has made on the Green Bay Packers as a franchise.
