Today Sham Charania provided an official update regarding the injury.
Shams Charania Provides Update Regarding Giannis Injury
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo avoided serious damage in his right wrist after further testing today, sources tell The Athletic Stadium. Antetokounmpo could miss some games, but an overall sigh of relief for the Bucks and their All-NBA star.
Adrian Wojnarowski also reported:
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a sprained ligament in his right wrist and will undergo treatment with the expectation that he’ll be able to return to the lineup once the pain subsides, sources tell ESPN. He was examined in New York today.
Antetokounmpo sat out the skills challenge during All-Star weekend. During the NBA All-Star game he started the game, scored the first points of the game (via a dunk) and quickly fouled to exit the game. For now, it seems like Antetokounmpo is not bothered by his injury, and even stated so. Now to hear officially that Giannis may only miss a short amount of time and avoided any long term absence is huge for the Milwaukee Bucks. This was best case scenario for everyone involved.
