Wisconsin spring practices finished up day No. 3 this morning. Early on, it’s been clear from what we’ve seen on Twitter that the pace is quicker, and we’re seeing more emotion from coaches and players. Early on three players have stood out early in these practices.
Chris Brooks Jr. Leads Revievers in Wisconsin Spring Practices
Chris Brooks had another ridiculous catch, reaching over the CB to pull in a pass for what would have been 20-plus yard gain.

There’s no doubt the Badgers are loaded in the receiver room. So far, it’s been redshirt freshman Chris Brooks Jr. standing out in Wisconsin spring practices.
Primarily working in the slot, Brooks Jr. has made multiple fantastic catches, likely catching the eyes of Luke Fickell and Phil Longo. It’s hard to see where Brooks Jr. will fit now, but it seems as if there’s yet another talented receiver at the disposal of the offense.
Tanner Mordecai Is Already Picking Up His New Offense

Uw Football Spring Practice 9 March 25, 2023
Mordecai will be the starting quarterback this year in Madison. There isn’t a debate about that. While he’s a sixth-year senior with a lot of college football experience, it’s been reported that he looked good early in Wisconsin spring practices.
While Mordecai doesn’t necessarily need the reps or has to look good, it’s a positive that it seems like he’s picking up this offense pretty fast. After throwing 72 touchdowns over the last two seasons at SMU, I would think picking up this offense shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Cade Yacamelli
Quick thoughts on #Badgers third spring practice:
-OL got going, in part because shoulder pads were on for first time
-Mordecai with his best day so far
-Young corners like Duclona and Arnold show promise
-Yacamelli starting to separate as RB3— Colten Bartholomew (@CBartWSJ) March 30, 2023
When Wisconsin brought in Cade Yacamelli, he was considered an athlete. That means they didn’t know what position he would play. Last year, he was listed as a safety. This year, he has moved to running back. He has been complemented for his explosiveness and being physical.
Yacamelli has impressed those who have been to Wisconsin spring practices as a redshirt freshman that he could be making a run for Wisconsin’s third running back. They will need one as Chez Mellusi is in his last year, and Braelon Allen could go to the NFL after this season if he wanted to. Despite Wisconsin being set with their Mellusi-Allen combo, having a third RB is always good. Right now, it seems like Yacamelli could be that guy that takes the next step.
