Brewers star Christian Yelich recently appeared on the YNK (you never know) podcast.  During the appearance he discussed what has made this offseason a really good one.  The answer revolved around more of a focus on travel and getting away from baseball.

Here is a video of Christian Yelich explaining why this offseason has been a good one.

#Brewers OF Christian Yelich recently talked about his different approach this offseason on the @ynk_podcast👇

He says getting away from baseball has helped him mentally prepare for the upcoming season.

Yelich indicated that getting away, recharging, and just living during the offseason is something that had been lacking in the past.  This offseason has been special for him in this regard.  Per the interview, it sounds like staying in Malibu, CA (he has been staying there since 2017) and traveling has played a big factor.

Towards the end of the video above, Yelich goes on to say that he did these things this offseason for himself, but in a way it will have a positive impact on baseball.  Throughout his 10 year career, Yelich has been very successful and has had an OPS above league average (100) every season.  However, his OPS hasn’t been above 111 since his MVP and MVP runner up seasons in 2018 and 2019 when he posted OPS’s of 164 and 179.

Yelich is locked up long term with the Brewers and any slight boost in performance would be very beneficial for Milwaukee. Hopefully his successful offseason will help flip the narrative on what has been a ‘down past few seasons’.
