Christian Watson, whom the Packers traded up to draft in the second round, has finally signed his rookie contract. He is the last Packers player to sign. The previous 10 draft picks were signed by the end of May.

Despite not signing his contract earlier, Watson did take part in the Packers’ rookie camp and all other offseason activities. Training camp starts on Friday, July 22 for rookies. Veterans are to report by July 26.
Why Did It Take So Long for Watson to Sign with the Packers?
As I outlined here, Christian Watson was hoping for more than three years guaranteed on his rookie contract. This is a precedent that has become a recent trend among late-first-round and second-round rookies. Make no mistake, though; Watson has had every intention of playing for the Packers.
Christian Watson Does Have a Great Deal of Hype
When the Green Bay Packers traded up to draft Christian Watson with the 34th overall pick, they made him their highest drafted wide receiver since Javon Walker was taken in the first round in 2002. Needless to say, this alone set high expectations for the North Dakota State product.
During rookie camp, Watson struggled with some drops and was at first overshadowed by fellow rookie receiver Romeo Doubs. However, once he got his feet under him, he impressed as many thought he would. In fact, he remains one of the favorites to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
