The Milwaukee Brewers have the third-best record in baseball and are making a push for their fourth straight playoff appearance. As September draws closer, the team is obviously planning for its expanded roster. In order to provide more depth in the outfield, Milwaukee has signed veteran David Dahl. The news was first reported by The Athletic’s Will Sammon.

Dahl was signed to a minor league contract after being released by the Texas Rangers on August 6.
David Dahl in 2021
David Dahl has appeared in 63 games with the Rangers this season. He has a slash line of .210/247/.322 with four home runs and 18 RBI. Dahl has appeared in one game at center field, 31 in left field, and 12 in right field. He also spent 17 games as the team’s designated hitter. He has missed a portion of the season to the IL after crashing into the outfield wall.
David Dahl in Colorado
Prior to signing with the Texas Rangers, David Dahl was the 10th overall pick in the 2012 amateur draft. Selected by the Rockies, Dahl made his Major League debut in 2016. In his rookie season, he hit .315/.359/.500 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 63 games.
Unfortunately, Dahl missed the entire 2017 with a stress reaction in his ribs. In 2018, Dhal hit .273/.325/.534 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 77 games. A fracture in his foot that season limited him again.
In 2019, Dahl had a monstrous start to his season and was named to the NL All-Star team. Unfortunately, his season ended early again after 100 games. This time, a sprained ankle kept him out for weeks. His final slash line that season was .302/.353/524 with 15 home runs and 16 RBI.
Last season, Dahl was limited to 24 out of the 60 possible regular season games. Feeling as if he spent too much of his time on the IL in his career, he did not report a hurt shoulder early in year. It caused him to miss over half of the Rockies’ games. He hit just .183/.247/.322 with four home runs and 18 RBI.
What Does Dahl Bring to the Brewers?
David Dahl brings outfield depth to a Milwaukee Brewers organization that is gearing up for September and expanded rosters. Either Dahl will spend time with Milwaukee when the rosters expand, or he will take the place of another player in Nashville who will.
