A Packers rookie WR has been ruled out this week
Earlier in the week, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur thought wide receiver Christian Watson’s injury wouldn’t be a long-term problem. Per reports on Friday, it’s looking like the Packers rookie might end up on the injured reserve. The Packers hoped to have Watson back against the New York Jets this week. That will not be the case.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Watson has been ruled out for Week 6. Linebacker Tipa Galeai will also be out against the Jets. Rashan Gary, who is battling a toe injury, is questionable for Sunday. Earlier Friday, LaFleur called Gary’s injury “concerning” before the Packers’ practice.
Rashan Gary (toe) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets.
Christian Watson and Tipa Galeai are out with hamstring injuries.

Packers will need players to step up
These are significant injuries for the Packers. Gary is an integral part of the defense’s pass rush. He is averaging a sack a game. Gary’s play would help throw Jets quarterback Zach Wilson off in Week 6. Galeai’s status doesn’t help the Packers with their linebacker depth.
Watson will be missed on offense but mainly on special teams. Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia said the team intends to use Amari Rodgers as their primary return man. Still, Watson has had a chance to return multiple kicks this season. With Rodgers’ struggles this season, the extra competition the Packers rookie provides is needed.
The Packers are now down a few offensive weapons at wide receiver. Sammy Watkins is on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury as well. Watkins’ and Watson’s absence will not help the Packers’ deep threat in the passing game. That might not be a bad thing for the Packers overall. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is battling a thumb injury on his throwing hand. The Packers will likely need to rely on their potent rushing attack against the Jets.

Wow, this guy was really worth a 2nd round pick? For all of you great analysts who claimed that we now had one of best receivers in the draft? Um, really? A dropped wide open pass that cost the Packers a WIN! Then oh wait, he ran for the score, whoo hoo! I understand why the front office said we DIDN’T NEED ANY MORE VETERAN LEADERSHIP AT THE RECEIVER POSITION! WE WERE SET! LMFAO! Between the Packers and the Brewers front office I can’t decide which is the more idiotic!
