The Packers cannot seem to shake the injury bug. It seems that once one player gets healthy, another starts dealing with a nagging injury. Aaron Rodgers and Rashan Gary are dealing with injuries. Sammy Watkins is already on the IR. It seems another receiver could be joining him. Matt LaFleur said in a press conference that Christian Watson might be headed to the IR.
Christian Watson To IR?
Matt LaFleur also just said that there’s been conversations around whether or not the Packers should shut Christian Watson down — moving him to injured reserve — because of multiple hamstring injuries this season. May or may not still happen.

This is not great news for Christian Watson. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout the season. It caused him to miss practice time and puts his status in question every week. Because of the reoccurring nature of the injury, Matt LaFleur said that Christian Watson might make a trip to the IR. They really want him to get healthy and be a big part of their offense. He has already shown electric speed in his limited touches and draws a lot of attention from the defense. While he has had his problems with drops, the potential is there.
How Will Watson Develop?
The Packers invested a lot of draft capital into Watson. They really hoped that he was going to blossom into something special. While this is still very possible, I think the Packers were hoping for an impact this season. Injuries have stunted his growth which is why a trip to the IR might be what is best long term. It stinks now but with the emergence of Romeo Doubs, it is probably what is best for the Packers and for Watson.
LaFleur mentioned that they have not made a final call on this yet. That signals to me that they are desperately trying to keep him on the active roster. Hamstring injuries are tricky and the Packers want to be careful while also having a huge weapon available. If Christian Watson does go on the IR hopefully he will come back and help the Packers make a playoff push.
