After over a year of off-field drama, Deshaun Watson is finally being traded by the Houston Texans. Last night, most were convinced Watson was going to waive his no-trade clause and go to the Atlanta Falcons. As it turns out, though, he has selected the Cleveland Browns.

Deshaun Watson plans to waive his no-trade clause to the #Browns, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. Yes, the Browns!!

Trade compensation still to be finalized with the #Texans, but Watson has made his choice: He expects to go to Cleveland.

    — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 18, 2022

As part of the trade, Watson is receiving a new five-year $230 million contract extension. It is fully guaranteed. According to Ian Rapoport, that figure is over $80 million more than the record for most guaranteed money at signing.

This is quite the change of events for Watson. He has gone from being accused of more than 20 charges of sexual assault and being held out of play. Now he is signing a deal for almost a quarter of a billion dollars.

    Must be nice.
