For the second time this season, the Brewers have a player who will serve an 80 game suspension. A few days before the start of the regular season, catcher Pedro Severino was suspended after testing positive for the banned substance Clomiphene.  Today, reliever J.C. Throughout the first month of the season, the Brewers have not had to make a lot of roster moves.  Of the players on the opening day roster, Jake Cousins is currently the only one on the injured list.  Health has thankfully been on their side.  However once the roster sizes decreased to 26 players and Luis Urias returned, the Brewers found themselves short in the bullpen.  This had lead to Luis Perdomo being called up to the big leagues and Keston Hiura being optioned to the minors. Baseball celebrations are fun.  They also come in a lot of different forms and for different reasons.  This year, the Brewers have decided to celebrate by ringing a bell. The bell made it’s appearance at home against the Reds and is located in their dugout.  Credit is going to first base coach Quintin Berry for instilling the bell concept.   In order for the bell to be rung, a player will have to make a good “baseball player move”.  This leaves the requirements pretty open ended and could range anywhere from hitting a home run, a great defensive play, or to…

During the second game of spring training, Luis Urias exited with a quad injury.  Initially the injury was thought to be minor and that he may recover in time for opening day.  Unfortunately that did not happen.  A month later he has successfully completed a rehab assignment with the Biloxi Shuckers. The way it is looking, Urias will make his 2022 season debut against the Reds. With Biloxi, Urias collected 31 plate appearances.  The goal of this minor league assignment was to see as many at bats as he would during spring training and to not have any set backs…

On the last day of April Brewers reliever Jake Cousins pitched in the ninth inning against the Cubs.  It took him 30 pitches to escape that inning in which he eventually struck out the side.  He did leave a bases loaded jam as he got into that position by giving up a hit and walking two batters. The day after this appearance, it was announced that Cousins was heading to the injured list with swelling in his right elbow.   The Brewers have placed reliver Jake Cousins on the 10-day injured list with fluid build-up in his right elbow. The Brewers are entering May on a five game winning streak.  They currently are atop the National League Central standings and finished April with a 15-7 record.  This is good enough for the franchises third best winning percentage in April.  They also are tied with the Mets for most wins in the National League. To begin the 2022 season, MLB teams have been allowed to carry 28 players on their active roster.  This came about due to a shortened spring training and increased concern for player health.  However, this change was meant to be temporary.  Starting May 2, teams will have to decrease their rosters to 26. After a series win out on the east coast against the Phillies, the Brewers are returning home tonight for a one game showdown in Milwaukee against the Giants.  The Brewers are entering play at 10-6 and the Giants 11-5.  Both teams won their divisions in 2021 and and are off to good starts to begin the 2022 season. Just two pitchers in the history of the Brewers franchise have reached triple digit saves totals. Following a 6-5 victory against the Cardinals on Easter Sunday, Josh Hader closed out the game and became the third.  He now joins John Axford and Dan Plesac as a member of the 100 save club. In order to lock down save number 100, Hader had to go through the heart of the Cardinals order.  It had to be a sweet feeling to retire the side of Paul Goldschmidt, Tyler O’Neill, and Nolan Arenado in order.  Both O’Neill and Arenado went down on strikes.…
