During the second game of spring training, Luis Urias exited with a quad injury. Initially the injury was thought to be minor and that he may recover in time for opening day. Unfortunately that did not happen. A month later he has successfully completed a rehab assignment with the Biloxi Shuckers.
The way it is looking, Urias will make his 2022 season debut against the Reds.
With Biloxi, Urias collected 31 plate appearances. The goal of this minor league assignment was to see as many at bats as he would during spring training and to not have any set backs with the quad. Thankfully he has done both of those things!
.@LuisUrias03, who was reinstated from the injured list today, will make his season debut tomorrow.
Urías led the #Brewers last season in games (150), AB (490), runs (77), hits (122) and XBH (49) and was second in HR (23), RBI (75), TB (218) and walks (63).#ThisIsMyCrew

In Urias’s absence, Jace Peterson and Mike Brosseau had been platooning at third base. With roster sizes decreasing from 28 players to 26 and Urias ready to return, Brosseau was optioned to the minor leagues. Urias will now take over primarily at third base. Importantly, he can also fill in at shortstop for Willy Adames who has played in every game so far this season.
Urias returning should help improve this offense. He was one of the most productive hitters for the Brewers last year and the hope is that he can step right in and contribute. Having his bat back may lead to more runs on the board, in which the Brewers offense has struggled with consistently scoring runs this year.
