Just two pitchers in the history of the Brewers franchise have reached triple digit saves totals. Following a 6-5 victory against the Cardinals on Easter Sunday, Josh Hader closed out the game and became the third. He now joins John Axford and Dan Plesac as a member of the 100 save club.
In order to lock down save number 100, Hader had to go through the heart of the Cardinals order. It had to be a sweet feeling to retire the side of Paul Goldschmidt, Tyler O’Neill, and Nolan Arenado in order. Both O’Neill and Arenado went down on strikes.
Congrats on 💯, Haderade!#ThisIsMyCrew pic.twitter.com/DswxYaspka

Early in his career, Hader was primarily used a multi inning reliever. He recorded his first save in 2018 and that year he closed out just 12 games. In 2019 he managed to set his career high in saves with 37, despite often times going multiple innings. The tide to a single inning reliever officially switched in 2021. That year he he recorded 34 saves.
Now that Hader has reached 100 career saves, he can now set his sights on the two players ahead of him. Next up is John Axford at 106 saves. Surpassing Axford in 2022 is very attainable. In order to pass Plesac and his 133 saves, Hader would have to close out 38 games this year.

Only time will tell if this happens or not. For now, we should enjoy the brilliance and specular performances while he is on the mound.
