This Year The Brewers Will Celebrate By Ringing The Bell

Baseball celebrations are fun.  They also come in a lot of different forms and for different reasons.  This year, the Brewers have decided to celebrate by ringing a bell.

The bell made it’s appearance at home against the Reds and is located in their dugout.  Credit is going to first base coach Quintin Berry for instilling the bell concept.   In order for the bell to be rung, a player will have to make a good “baseball player move”.  This leaves the requirements pretty open ended and could range anywhere from hitting a home run, a great defensive play, or to making a heads up play.

    Ring The Bell

In it’s season debut, the bell saw plenty of action.  Kolton Wong was the first player to ring the bell after he hit a leadoff home run on the twelfth pitch of the at bat.  Rowdy Tellez also got to ring it after he hit a grand slam to break the game wide open.  His grand slam accounted for four out of his eight total RBI’s on the night!

In time, this bell is going to get a lot of use.  Thankfully, it has already been reinforced for prior to Wednesday’s game short stop Willy Adames actually broke the tether on the bell.  If the tether breaks again, it should be due to the fact that the Brewers are ringing it frequently!

It should be fun to see all the stories that come with ringing the bell this season.
