YELICH VS REDS 2020

Since Kolten Wong went on the IL with a calf strain, Christian Yelich has been the one leading off games.  This also includes against left-handed pitchers, in which Andrew McCutchen previously was the leadoff hitter in those matchups.  So far, the early results show that he is having success as the team’s leadoff hitter. Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff has been on the IL over the past two weeks with a right ankle sprain.  The good news is that his ankle feels back to 100%.  However, he is experiencing raynaud’s syndrome, which is preventing him from returning off the IL. Brewers All-Star Brandon Woodruff confirms he is experiencing symptoms of Raynaud’s syndrome, describing numbness and cold feeling in his middle three fingers. Prior to the start of the Philadelphia Phillies series, the Brewers provided injury updates on a few key players.  The updates consisted of Hunter Renfroe being activated, Willy Adames being close to returning, and Trevor Gott going on the IL OF Hunter Renfroe reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Pedro Severino

In April, Brewers backup catcher Pedro Severino received an 80 game suspension. He tested positive for a drug named Clomiphene.  In a statement following the news, Severino indicated that he was prescribed the drug by a medical professional due to infertility problems. With his suspension covering essentially half of the season, the Brewers went out and traded for Victor Caratini.  Caratini is a switch hitter who primarily plays against left-handed pitchers and also whenever Corbin Burnes is on the mound.  Burnes and Caratini continue to use the pitch com system effectively. Injuries and constant roster shuffling continue to be a theme as of late for the Milwaukee Brewers. The latest player to go on the IL was infielder Mike Brosseau. Pablo Reyes was recalled as a result. Brosseau was unavailable for the Brewers thrilling come from behind victory on Thursday night. There recently has been some shuffling around in terms of the Brewers 40 man roster.  This opens the door for minor league players to get a call up to the majors.  There currently are three spots available that the Brewers can fill at any time. The recent roster shuffling began after J.C. Wednesday’s matinee game between the Brewers and Braves had plenty of excitement.  The game ultimately ended in the Brewers coming from behind to win by a score of 7-6.  Keston Hiura delivered the game winning blow as he hit a walk off home run.
