Green Bay Packers safety Adrian Amos

The Green Bay Packers will have one major question on defense going into the 2023 NFL season.  In the draft, the Packers addressed/added to their defensive line in a major way.  However, one position that wasn’t addressed (as far as starting-caliber players go) was safety.  They only took one safety in the draft and that was in the form of Anthony Johnson Jr. in the seventh round.  That leaves the door open for the Packers to retain one of their better defensive players, Adrian Amos.  Today, Brian Gutekunst addressed that exact situation. The Green Bay Packers will be moving forward with Jordan Love as their starting quarterback… at least for 2023.  A key decision that the Green Bay Packers had to make was regarding Jordan Love and his fifth-year option.  It has been previously reported that the fifth-year option was a done deal, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Green Bay Packers Have Not Yet Made A Decision On Jordan Love’s Fifth-Year Option According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic: Brian Gutekunst says they’ve had preliminary discussions about Jordan Love’s fifth-year option, but Packers haven’t yet exercised it. The Green Bay Packers went into day three of the 2023 NFL Draft with nine draft picks.  General manager Brian Gutekunst traded down twice during the second round, adding additional fifth- and sixth-round picks. He also has two extra seventh-round picks via previous trade (Rams for Corey Bojorquez, Jaguars for Cole Van Lanen) and a compensatory seventh-round pick.  The nine picks were tied for the second most of any team during this year’s draft (Jaguars had 10).  With one of those nine picks, the Green Bay Packers added a wide receiver that couldn’t have been more of a perfect fit.…

The Green Bay Packers will have a much different-looking offense in 2023.  The Green Bay Packers finally got the deal done to send Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay (Brian Gutekunst seemed happy).  Tight End Robert Tonyan signed with the Chicago Bears, Allen Lazard went to the Jets, and it is unlikely that Randall Cobb and Marcedes Lewis will be back.  The offensive weapons the Green Bay Packers do have, are led by Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Aaron Jones, and AJ Dillon.  That is, until today. The Green Bay Packers chose to pass on wide receiver, tight end, and safety in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.  GM Brian Gutekunst did prioritize the defense yet again, taking the top-edge prospect out of the University of Iowa. While fans seem split, many analysts are praising the pick. Dane Bugler of NFLDraftScout.com and CBS Sports loved the pick and compared Lukas Van Ness to a grizzly bear.  When the draft pick was announced, Green Bay Packers current defensive end had an announcement of his own. The Green Bay Packers kept the streak alive.  Sitting at number 13 overall, the Green Bay Packers had arguably the two best pass catchers still on the board.  Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and tight end Dalton Kincaid.  However, sine 2002, the Green Bay Packers still refuse to take a wide receiver in the first round.  Instead, they take a stud defensive end.
