Yesterday I began looking at my depth chart predictions on the defensive side for the Wisconsin Badgers. Not only is there a ton of depth and experience on the defensive line, it’s the same case for the inside linebacker position too. It was a mystery last season with Jordan Turner and Maema Njongmeta as the starters, but they both performed really well. In fact, Njongmeta is statically one of the best linebackers int he country returning this season. Does the Mike Tressel 3-3-5 scheme change the position group? Starters: Jordan Turner and Maema Njongmeta As mentioned before, Wisconsin has their…

As we continue to look at my projections of each position group for the Wisconsin Badgers this season, I now switch over to the defensive side of the ball. Overall, the defense will have a new man in charge with Mike Tressel, who followed coach Luke Fickell from Cincinnati. Looking at the defensive line, it is a experienced group who has played a lot of snaps together. While Wisconsin did lose Keenau Benton, there are four players that played meaningful snaps last season that return. Starters- Isaiah Mullens, James Thompson Jr, Rodas Johnson The trio of James Thompson Jr, Rodas…

Today, we conclude the offensive side of the ball in previewing the Wisconsin Badgers depth chart. After previewing quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers, we end with the offensive line. The offensive line is always one of the best units on this roster and 2023 will be no different. Most of last years players have stayed and some transfers have also entered in the picture as well. I believe there are at least eight or nine offensive linemen on this roster that would start at a lot of division one schools. I love the depth and talent of unit overall.…

Continuing with on the offense side of the ball for Wisconsin football depth chart previews, today I look at the tight end position. What a 24 or so hours it’s been for this group. It was announced yesterday tight ends Clay Cundiff and Jack Eschenbach, arguably Wisconsin’s top two tight ends coming into this season, are no longer on the roster or with the program. It was mentioned they both voluntarily left. It was a thin room to begin with and now it gets even thinner. With that being said, who will take the reigns in what seems to be…

Today is the beginning of fall camp for the Wisconsin Badgers. They will spend the first week at UW-Platteville before returning to Madison to complete the rest of camp. Luke Fickell has gone off-site for camp during his time at Cincinnati as well. As the roster was released, there were two tight ends from the spring roster that are no longer on the roster. That would be Clay Cundiff and Jack Eschenbach. It Is A Huge Impact https://twitter.com/jessetemple/status/1686766920777736193 The tight end position was already a thin and inexperienced group coming into the season. It does not help as Cundiff and…

After looking at the Wisconsin Badgers running backs and quarterback depth charts this week, today I switch over to the wide receivers. This has now become a room loaded with talent and depth. It’s been a long time since the Badgers had a room like this. Luke Fickell and his staff were busy keeping production from last season and adding their own targets as well. With the air raid offense of offensive coordinator Phil Longo, this could be a position that could produce a ton of yards and touchdowns this season. Starters- Chimere Dike, Will Pauling, Bryson Green It’s really…

Wisconsin Badgers running back Braelon Allen

There’s no doubt Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen is arguably the best player on the roster. There’s also no doubt he is one of the best players in the Big Ten and the country. That was on display as according to PPF College, Braelon Allen was included as the 43rd best player in the country on their top 50 list. Why Allen Was Included https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/1686415744492503041 It’s become obvious Braelon Allen is one of the best running backs in the country. In his first two years at Wisconsin, he has rushed for almost 2,500 yards. A majority of those yards have…

After looking at the quarterback depth chart for the Wisconsin Badgers yesterday, today I switch to the running backs. The duo of Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi is one of the best in the Big Ten and can be one of the best in the country. Wisconsin is fortunate to have two running backs who could start for most teams on their side. Here is how I see the running back room shaking out this year. Starter- Braelon Allen (Junior) It would be a surprise if Braelon Allen played his senior year next year at Wisconsin. Barring anything crazy, he…

Over the last two days, it’s been Big Ten Media days for the college football season. During this session at Lucas Oil Stadium, each coach gets about 15 minutes to address the media on what they can expect this season and answer any questions during their allotted time. First year Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell was the second last coach to go to the podium. Here were some takeaways from his press conference. What Defines Success In Year One Fickell assumed this question would be asked so he answered the question in his opening statements. He mentioned he wants to…

Wisconsin Badgers football head coach Luke Fickell

It’s a great feeling to say that Wisconsin Football is back next week! Not the game portion but fall camp opens up next week. It will be a quick month of August and then the season begins September 2 against Buffalo. Wisconsin has made a ton of changes since November beginning with the hire of new head coach Luke Fickell. Players also left while new players came in. It’s been a whirlwind the last eight months. With that being said, here are three big story lines that will be surrounding the Badgers this season. How Quick Can The Offense Adjust…
