It is indeed the worst-case scenario for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. It was revealed on Tuesday that the 39-year-old has suffered a full tear on his left Achilles and that Rodgers is done for the season. At this point, you just can’t help but feel bad about this entire situation.
New York Jets HC Robert Saleh Reacts to Aaron Rodgers Turf Controversy
There is one particular theory floating around regarding Rodgers’ season-ending injury. Some folks believe that the turf field in New York’s MetLife Stadium played a significant role in the four-time league MVP tearing his Achilles in his team’s first drive of the game against the Buffalo Bills.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh has now spoken out about these rumors, and the Jets shot-caller made it clear that he’s not pinning the blame on the turf:
“No. If it was a non-contact injury, I think that’d be something to discuss obviously,” Saleh said, via Michael David Smith of PFT. “But I think that was trauma-induced. I do know the players prefer grass and there’s a lot invested in those young men.”
There’s been a lot of talk surrounding the NFL shifting to turf, and while Saleh has refused to take this opportunity to criticize the league for this decision, the 44-year-old has also revealed that if the players were given a choice, they would still opt for grass.
Green Bay Packers’ David Bakhtiari Blames Turf for Aaron Rodgers’ Injury
While Saleh was more cordial in sharing his thoughts about the turf field, Green Bay Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari did not hold back at all. This man has a lot of history with Rodgers, and you just know that Bakhtiari would have a thing or two to say after seeing his buddy suffer that heartbreaking injury.
WTF!!!! That injury is TURF related. Can we put an end to this shit already.

As I said, Bakhtiari did not hold back. He wasn’t done either. The two-time All-Pro tackle went on to call out the NFL for supposedly playing a significant role in Rodgers’ recent injury:
Congrats @nfl. How many more players have to get hurt on ARTIFICIAL TURF??! You care more about soccer players than us. You plan to remove all artificial turf for the World Cup coming up. So clearly it’s feasible.
I’m sick of this..Do better!— David Bakhtiari (@DavidBakhtiari) September 12, 2023
While Saleh himself has already shut down the turf theory, you can be sure that this conversation isn’t going to die down anytime soon.
