The Milwaukee Brewers need depth in their starting rotation.
Since Opening Day, Milwaukee has been down three starters (DL Hall, Wade Miley, and Jakob Junis). Miley is out for this year and most of next year due to Tommy John Surgery. Junis has been out since early April with a right shoulder impingement and suffered a recent setback on April 22, after he was hit in the neck during batting practice against the Pirates.
DL Hall has been out since April 21, after suffering a sprained knee after fielding a bunt against the Cardinals. Recent reports say he is playing catch and progressing, but there’s no clear timeline for his return.
Milwaukee’s current rotation is Freddy Peralta, Colin Rea, Joe Ross, Bryse Wilson, and Tobias Myers.
Milwaukee has a 21-15 record heading into Thursday’s matchup against the Cardinals, but how long can Milwaukee rely on these five guys to eat up innings?
Unlikely which is why Milwaukee adding this veteran LHP would help improve their rotation.
Why the Milwaukee Brewers should add Rich Hill
Rich Hill would be a perfect short-term stop-gap for the Brewers. Hill would add a veteran presence to a team, with the absence of Brandon Woodruff and Wade Miley having an unproven staff.
Hill said recently he’s looking for another opportunity but enjoying coaching his son’s little league team.
44-year-old Rich Hill might want to pitch in the Majors again this season.
For now he's staying home to coach his son in Little League, and that's giving us all the feels. 🥹❤️ pic.twitter.com/jgzRl6ePn6

Last year, the Brewers signed Julio Teheran to bolster their rotation, and while he didn’t finish the year in the rotation, they still filled a need while Brandon Woodruff recovered from injury.
This situation is direr because the team doesn’t have a certified ace and too many unknown commodities.
If the Milwaukee Brewers add Rich Hill, who are you taking out?
With the news that the team is calling up Robert Gasser to make his first Major League start tomorrow, Thursday’s starter Tobias Myers is a candidate to get sent down, but if the team signs Rich Hill, Bryse Wilson should be moved back to the bullpen.
The MLB season is long, and the rotation that Milwaukee has today won’t be the rotation the team will roll out in September.
Milwaukee knew the situation when they dealt with Corbin Burnes in the offseason. This team with Pat Murphy’s aggressive approach, has a chance to go to the postseason for a second straight year. For that to happen, Milwaukee needs to make this move now and add Rich Hill to this young, talented team.
