Team success year after year comes because of drafting skills. While every team has their misses, by and large the teams that find value in the draft are the ones that have success long term. The Packers have always seem to be finding value especially in the late rounds. This year, the Packers may have found themselves some absolute steals. 3 Packers rookies have been named as top steals of the draft.
WR Romeo Doubs
This one is the most obvious to fans. Doubs has been making highlight play after highlight play. Whether it has been in practice or in games Doubs continually shows up and makes big plays. In a draft where many teams took receivers in the first round, the Packers may have found first round talent in the fourth round. The Packers get a lot of criticism for not drafting first round wide receivers but if they can continue to find value in later rounds, it’s hard to argue with their strategies. The drops are a problem but one that is a fixable problem. Doubs is being pushed by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers coaching staff and Doubs is responding well. Doubs is on Packers rookie who looks like one of the steals of the draft.
OT Zach Tom
With the injuries to David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, Zach Tom has gotten an opportunity to show what he can do. He has gone out and been the top rated rookie offensive lineman in terms of pass blocking. This was shown in college as he went up against top pass rushers and didn’t allow pressures there either. Many are calling for Tom to start if Bakhtiari and Jenkins are out for the first couple weeks. While it looks like he will start on the bench, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him starting at some point this season. The Packers sure can find offensive line talent as they always seem to find good prospects. This Packers rookie looks like a steal of the draft.
EDGE Kingsley Enagbare
Enagbare fell to the fifth round because of his limited physical tools and lack of refinement. However, this seemed too far. Enagbare looks like another Packers rookie that will be a steal of the draft. His high motor and great hands are evident. In the preseason game against the Saints, he embarrassed an offensive lineman with a sick move. The other aspect of his development is that he gets to play under Rashan Gary and Preston Smith. He will get to watch and learn from two of the best edge rushers in the game.
Overall the Packers nailed the 2022 draft. Quay Walker looks amazing. Samori Toure beat out a fourth year receiver for a roster spot. This is the kind of drafting success that leads to continual team success. These 3 Packers rookies look like absolute steals of the draft.
