Today marks the third day of the WIAA State Baseball tournament, the schedule has shifted a little bit since half of yesterdays game were rained out, they pushed Division 3 Semifinals to Wednesday morning, and started Division 4 at 5:30pm on Tuesday due to the amount of rain in Appleton. Wednesday is expected to be a packed full day of games you have the Division 3, 2 & 1 Semifinal games throughout the day.
#3 Kiel – 0 vs #2 St. Croix Falls – 10 (6 Innings)
The game started with a quiet first inning, but then in the second inning is where all the scoring started for St. Croix Falls they came up with 3 in the Top of the 2nd, Brady Belsile he had 3 hits and drove in 4 runs for St. Croix Falls, Tyler Olson also had 2 hits driving in 3 runs. St. Croix Falls also hit back to back homeruns one over the wall and then to follow it with an inside the park homerun, the game eventually ended with a ten run rule in the 6th inning, now St. Croix Falls will head to the Division 3 State Championship game and will play #1 Aquinas at Noon on Thursday Afternoon.

#4 Random Lake – 0 vs #1 Aquinas – 10 (6 Innings)
Aquinas showed up with the bats today, they were able to score a run in every inning throughout the game, but one 4 run inning is what led them to reach the margin in the 6th inning to run rule Random Lake. Leading Aquinas on the hitting side of things was Eddie Peters (Aquinas, 2024), who recorded 4 hits today along with 2 RBI’s, helping him was the pitcher Tanner Peterson who recorded 3 hits along with 2 RBI’s. One thing to point out is Aquinas held Random Lake to only 1 hit and that hit came from Mitchell Hiller. Aquinas will play #2 St. Croix Falls for the Division 3 State Championship at Noon tomorrow.

The St. Thomas More Cavaliers came out swinging in this game early, as the put up a quick 3 runs in the 1st inning, and that would not stop throughout the game, St. Thomas More got to the point where they put up runs in every single inning in this game. Oliver Gonzalez (St. Thomas More, 2024) led the Cavaliers with 3 hits today along with 3 RBI’s, Brayden Alivo (St. Thomas More, 2026) also had 3 hits with 1 RBI and multiple players had 2 hits in this game today as well Alex Alicea, Kyle Alivo and Manny Sostre. Kyle Alivo also pitched a 5 inning complete game shutout for the St. Thomas More Cavaliers today, only giving up 3 hits today to Evan Gustafson, Trent Cornell and Colin Boyarski. The St. Thomas More Cavaliers win in a run rule 11-0, in 5 innings. St. Thomas More will play #1 seed Denmark for the Division 2 State Championship at 3:00pm tomorrow afternoon.

#4 Jefferson – 0 vs #1 Denmark – 7
This was the second game of the Division 2 semifinals, and it started out as a Pitchers duel all the way till the 5th inning, another thing that was in progress till the 5th inning to point out was Tyler Schrodel (Jefferson, 2024) was pitching a no hitter. But then the 5th inning came across and it was a big inning for the #1 seeded Denmark they brought home six runs in that inning, with three crucial Jefferson errors as well, then Denmark would go on to get one in Top of the 6th inning as well. Denmark was led in the hitting category by Ethan Ovsak (Denmark, 2023) with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s, then for Jefferson Payton Heard (Jefferson, 2024) led the team with two of it’s six hits. Both sides had incredible pitching to start the game, the stats can be viewed below, Tyler Schroedl left the game for Jefferson with a no hitter in progress. Denmark will play #2 seed St. Thomas More for the Division 2 State Championship at 3:00pm tommorow afternoon.

#5 Whitefish Bay – 17 vs #1 Stevens Point – 0 (5 Innings)
This game started with Whitefish Bay coming out early and absolutely hitting the baseball whenever they can. They got a huge upset over the #1 seed Stevens Point and there pitching stayed phenomenal as well. Whitefish Bay tonight racked 20 hits against Stevens Point, leading the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes with hitting was Jack Counsell and Austin Weinke who both had 4 hits in this game, Charlie McIntrye had 3 hits in this game and all racked up multiple RBI’s. Whitefish Bay also did really well on the mound behind Alex Brodersen who pitched a complete game in a 5 inning run rule for Whitefish Bay. That means Whitefish Bay will meet #2 seed Hortonville in the Division 1 State Championship at 6:00pm tommorow night.

#3 Franklin vs #2 Hortonville
Franklin came out on top first to start this game, Alex Mierow (Franklin, 2023) hit a solo home run to left field to give the Sabers an early lead. The Sabers turned a huge inning ending double play to get out of jam early on. But in the bottom of the 5th inning is where Hortonville came out swinging they were able to put up 4 runs in the bottom of that inning. Thomas Burns (Hortonville, 2023) led the team with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s in that 5th inning rally, Camden Kuhnke (Hortonville, 2023) and Nathan Grams (Hortonville, 2024) both had an RBI in that rally as well. Nate Vela ended up throwing a 7 inning complete game for the Polar Bears. They will face the #5 seed Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes for the Division 1 State Championship tommorow night at 6:00pm.
