To say that veteran guard Patrick Beverley is a magnet for controversies is a massive understatement. But after airing his side on the two incidents that occured in Game 6 against the Indiana Pacers, fans are divided on what they learned from the Milwaukee Bucks star.
During Game 6 between the Bucks and Indiana, the latter went home with the 120-98 win. After missing the previous three games in the series, All-Star Damian Lillard went back to the lineup in order to prevent their season from ending early.
Unfortunately, even Lillard’s return didn’t stop the Pacers from dominating Milwaukee and getting rid of them. As a result, Tyrese Haliburton and company are now in the second round against a Jalen Brunson-led New York Knicks team. The Bucks, on the other hand, are facing an offseason full of questions on how to improve the roster for next season.
During the dying minutes of Game 6, Beverley engaged with Pacers fans and threw a ball at their direction. Shortly after, the veteran guard refused to answer ESPN producer Malinda Adams’ questions and asked her to leave after learning she has not subscribed to his podcast. These pair of incidents has caused fans online to lash out at the Milwaukee guard.
Fans Are Divided Over Patrick Beverley’s Side On Milwaukee Bucks-Indiana Pacers Incident
A few days after those incidents, Beverley showed up in his own podcast and aired his side. Although he has already apologized on social media and shared his thoughts about the matter, fans are still divided on what he just said.
“The best way to handle it. Patbev is a real one,” Michael Stogner tweeted.
“This may be too much personal accountability for the internet to process,” benAmerica said.
“You out the league buddy. That was your final stint,” Gomane reacted.
“I gotta say, and I’ll probably be in the minority. But I gotta give you credit for the way you owned up to it. Didn’t make any excuses, and idk somehow I respect you more now? Idk didn’t see this as a possible pov for me, but shit it was a ball, mistakes happen,” Colin Tausch posted.
“Bev you might not have to worry about a next time my brother. A player of your caliber and age (35) might find it very difficult for a team to want to deal with such nonsense coming from a player who has the reputation you have. Your NBA days might be numbered!” Fred H stated.
“He messed up. He knows that. He also owned up to it and said “I was absolutely wrong”. Thats all you can ask. Every single person makes mistakes and wishes they could take some things back. He’s no different. Respect!” The Sports Avenue declared.
Beverley’s fate in Milwaukee is unknown at this moment since his contract expires at the end of the season. There is a possibility that the team won’t sign him to a new deal, especially after his behavior in Game 6.
Whether Beverley remains in Milwaukee or not will be determined in the coming months. In any case, he could use this time in becoming better, especially off the court.
