Kicker Chris Jacke was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 1989 NFL Draft. He would spend 8 years in Green Bay (from 1989-1996). His last of which was part of the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers (Super Bowl XXXI). Jacke graciously agreed to give us an interview about his career. - Q. What did your typical daily routine look like when you were in season with the Green Bay Packers?
- A. Kickers and punters had a lot of time on their hands as you might have guessed. Special teams meeting were the first meetings of the day which around 930am. We would then do weight room work outs, lunch around noon and special teams practice would begin at 130pm. Typically, depending on what was being covered that day (punt team, kickoff team, etc. we would go down to practice field around 1230pm to practice ourselves. There would also be a special teams segment during full team practice which started at 230pm.
Question Two:
- Q. On October 14th, 1996 you went 5/5 kicking field goals against the SF 49ers including a game winner in Overtime. Do you have a favorite game winning kick? That Monday night game is one of my favorites. I can still remember my first FG attempt against the Rams in week 3, I believe. And the game winner against the Bucs in 1989 was very memorable.What goes through your head moments before?
- A. DO NOT MISS!!
Question Three:
- Q. Did you have a rival kicker in the league that you couldn’t wait to play against?
- A. I always enjoyed meeting different kickers and chatting with them prior to games, but no one specific.

- Q. What kicker did you look up to / learn from when you were entering the league?
- A. Growing up in Dallas (NOT a Cowboys fan) I was always impressed watching Raphael Septien.
Question Five:
- Q. Did the Green Bay Packers / other teams you played for, help with nutrition while you were playing?
- Wasn’t a thing when we played but we knew what not to eat!! Did they educate their players on what to eat to stay in shape? Not so much back then.
Question Six:
- Q. How do you think the kicking game has changed from when you played to today?
- A. Better athletes, better field conditions. Like every generation.
Question Seven:
- Q. Do you remember the best competition you faced at the kicking position while in Green Bay?
- A. Joe Nedney was in camp and he was great and ended up having a great career.
Question Eight:
- Q. Do you have any advice for the younger generation who want to be kickers in the NFL?
- A. Play a lot of soccer. Enjoy your youth and have fun.

- Q. What was the best advice you received while pursuing the NFL?
- A. Do the best you can and don’t look back.
Question Ten:
- Q. How did you become involved with Player Alumni Resources?
- A. I created PAR in 2013 when I went into the Packers HOF. I was being invited to different types of appearances (getting paid), so I thought I would put together a centralized location for fans, businesses, charities to go to find Alumni if they were interested in having them attend various events.
Question Eleven:
- Q. What is your favorite memory from a Player Alumni Resource event?
- A. All of them. It is awesome to attend various events around the state and meet Packer fans that are just 5 years old or individuals who are in their 90’s. Packer fans are the best!
