Wisconsin Basketball: Badgers Need Solid Performance From Their Spark-plug

The Wisconsin basketball team has more than one option to win a game on offense, in particular a talented Junior shooting guard.

Max Klesmit has been a curious player for Wisconsin basketball the past two seasons as he can score with ease, or dish the ball out when needed. Klesmit has been quiet for the Badgers as of late, but the Wisconsin spark-plug could breakout before the regular season ends. Can Klesmit light up the score board before the Big Ten Conference Tournament gets under way?

Wisconsin Basketball Guard Max Klesmit Could Be ‘End Of The Season’ Key

If there is a definition of the Wisconsin basketball season in one player, Wisconsin native Max Klesmit would certainly be the one. Klesmit, who originally started his collegiate career at Wofford, has been a great offensive spark-plug and a solid defender for the Badgers. Klesmit is in his second season with Wisconsin basketball now, and has aimed to make a difference for his team this year.

However, it has been a difficult up and down year for Klesmit as he has found his stride against some teams, but struggled against others. When Klesmit is on, it can be a huge boost to the Wisconsin offense.

Can Max Klesmit Take Over For Wisconsin Basketball On Offense?

Indiana’s Kel’el Ware (1) scores past Wisconsin’s Steven Crowl (22) during the first half of the Indiana versus Wisconsin men’s basketball game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.

In the last game out against Rutgers, Klesmit only managed to drop three-points as the entire Wisconsin basketball offense struggled. As of late however, Klesmit has found his stride again as he is averaging 14.3 points over his past three games. Before this stretch, Klesmit did not record double-digit points in three straight games.

The key against Rutgers is slowing down their big men, as Rutgers is a strong interior team. It is likely that the Scarlet Knights will dominate on the boards, which puts more pressure on the shooters of Wisconsin to make their shots.

Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Hoping For A Win or Two Before Tournament Season

Wisconsin basketball must play Rutgers at home and #2 Purdue away before ending their regular season. With the Big Ten Conference Tournament looming, another win or two before the start of the tournament could be key for Wisconsin. There is no doubt the Badgers have been a momentum-driven team this season, which makes adding another win crucial for future success.
