The Wisconsin basketball team has pulled off the incredible upset over #24 Virginia after defeating them, 65-41, to open the Fort Myers Tip-Off.

Steven Crowl and John Blackwell led the Badgers in scoring as the Wisconsin basketball team took down the Virginia Cavaliers. The Badgers scored 22 points off of the bench as the team seemed to come alive against the Cavaliers offensively. Wisconsin has appeared to have found their confidence shooting from the floor as they nailed 44.4% from three-point range.

Wisconsin basketball has gotten the short tip-off tournament off to a great start with the upset win over the Virginia Cavaliers. Coming into this game, Virginia had displayed an antagonizing defense that had led their team to a 4-0 record. The Cavaliers had only allowed 51 points per game this season before the Badgers offense came alive against them.

The Badgers scored 28 points in the first half and went into halftime only allowing Virginia to score 18 points. The second half was more of the same for each team as Wisconsin basketball exploded for 37 points and held the Cavaliers to 23. Virginia shot 28.6% from long range against the Badgers and only had 32.6% of their shots to land from the floor.

Steven Crowl led the Badgers with a big double-double as he recorded 15 points and ten rebounds. Crowl also added the lone block for the Wisconsin basketball team as the Badgers defense shut down the Cavaliers. John Blackwell also added 10 points off the bench including two triples to ignite the Badgers offense.

A Look Ahead: Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Advances in Tip-Off Tournament

The Wisconsin basketball team will now advance to the finals in their tip-off tournament where they face the winner of West Virginia versus Southern Methodist University. If the Badgers can play like they had done today, then they could certainly defeat the next team they face in the finals.

In order to beat Virginia, Wisconsin needed to move the ball around and focus on taking good shots. The Badgers were able to do just that as Wisconsin shot confidently from the floor against the Cavaliers. The Badgers also did a great job distributing the ball as the Wisconsin basketball team recorded 15 assists on the night.
