The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team is in a must-win situation early on in the season on Friday night at home against the Robert Morris Colonials, with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. Wisconsin is 1-2 on the year and they are on a two-game losing streak after losing to the Tennessee Volunteers and the Providence Friars.
The Badgers dropped that game against the Friars on the road this past Tuesday night 72-59. Wisconsin will be facing a 1-2 Robert Morris team, whose only win on the year came against Point Park 66-56 last Thursday night.
This would be an extremely bad loss for the Badgers basketball program which is trying to get back to the NCAA Tournament this season. They can’t win it all in November, but they can certainly not help themselves if they lose this matchup against a lower-tier division one program.
The last game that Robert Morris played was against the Towson Tigers on the road and they lost that one 66-62 this past Sunday. For the Colonials, Justice Williams scored 16 points, grabbed two rebounds, and recorded three assists for them.
They had three other players in double figures and they were Stephaun Walker with 15 points, Markeese Hastings with 12 points, and T.J. Wainwright with 13 points.
Wisconsin Badgers Need More Help Against Robert Morris
This past Tuesday, only AJ Storr and John Blackwell scored in double figures for the Badgers. Storr led the way with 22 points, and five rebounds, and also recorded one assist. Blackwell scored 11 points for Wisconsin. Two of the players that need to step up for the Wisconsin Badgers against the Robert Morris Colonials on Friday night are starters Chucky Hepburn and Tyler Wahl.
Head coach Greg Gard needs to make sure they don’t make this game close because that will give the Colonials a chance to pull off the upset. Wisconsin needs to win this game and it needs to be in convincing fashion or there will be question marks about this basketball program moving forward into the 2023-2024 season.
