The Wisconsin basketball team has recorded the second win of the season after taking down the visiting Robert Morris basketball team, 78-68.
Wisconsin has successfully bounced back from their losses to Tennessee and Providence with a comfortable win over Robert Morris. The Badgers still had their fair share of struggles during the win, but Tyler Wahl and Steven Crowl looked impressive in particular. Wisconsin might need time to return to themselves, but the pieces are certainly there.
Wisconsin Basketball Overcomes Early Finishing Struggles to Defeat Visiting Colonials Team
The Wisconsin Badgers hosted the Robert Morris Colonials on Friday, November 17th in Madison as the team aimed to improve. Wisconsin has lost two games early on this season to tough opponents in the Tennessee Volunteers and the Providence Friars. Both teams forced Wisconsin to run an unusual offense and take low-percentage shots as well.
Against the Colonials, the goal for the Badgers was to aggressively attack the basket and the team was able to do just that. Wisconsin attacked the basket early, forcing 11 fouls and trips to the free-throw line early in the first half of play. In total, Wisconsin basketball drew 32 personal fouls against the Colonials, which is quite impressive for a team that struggled doing the same just a week ago.
Wisconsin basketball veterans Tyler Wahl and Steven Crowl led the way for the Badgers, taking 18 free-throws on the night. Wahl in particular found his way to the rim often against Robert Morris as he recorded 18 points including eight free-throws. Crowl, on the other hand, brought down eight rebounds for the Badgers and recorded a block on the defensive side of the ball.
A Look Ahead: Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Hosts the Virginia Cavaliers
There is no doubt Wisconsin basketball needed a win over Robert Morris, but the win did not come exactly how the team would like. Guard AJ Storr struggled heavily from the field and has had an interesting shot selection thus far to say the least. From deep, the Badgers are still not connecting on their open shots, which consistently comes back to hurt the team.
Wisconsin basketball is still yet to fully click on the offensive side of the ball. In order for the Wisconsin Badgers basketball program to reach the NCAA Tournament this season, they will need to pick on their play.
The next big test for the Badgers will come when the Virginia Cavaliers meet them in Fort Myers, Florida on November 20th.
