Coming off two great wins against Marquette and Michigan State, Wisconsin basketball finishes their three game gauntlet this afternoon. They hit the road again to take on #1 Arizona. It will be a tall task for the Badgers to get the win, but they have to tools to do it. Tip time is 2:15 today on ESPN. Here is a preview of today’s game.
Wisconsin Basketball Can Play with House Money
The best part about this game today is Wisconsin basketball can play with house money after beating Marquette and Michigan State. Even one win in this three game stretch was looked at by many as a success. After back to back great performances, the Badgers were able to win the first two games of this gauntlet.
Anytime you’re the number one team in the country, the pressure is on you, especially at home. The PAC 12 doesn’t look to be very strong this year. As a result, today could very well be Arizona’s toughest home game of the season. On the other hand, Wisconsin can play loose and free. That’s always tough when you’re the team expected to win.
Dictate The Pace of Play
Arizona is the second highest scoring team in the county ant 93 points a game. They are a balanced team with no one averaging 14 points a game and 28 minutes a game. They have a ton of weapons they can throw at you. Wisconsin basketball is also like that. They don’t have one scorer to focus one. They can six or seven players that can lead this team in scoring any night.
The defense as been key during this six game winning streak. Wisconsin basketball will need to have their bets defensive performance of the season today. They have to make the Wildcats play at their pace and make them defend the entire shot clock.
Prediction
Can Wisconsin win this game today? Yes they can. Will they? That’s a tough ask, unfortunately.
Despite Arizona winning by an average of 31 points a game, Duke and Michigan State played the Wildcats tough. Arizona beat Duke by five and Michigan State by six. Any night is different in college basketball, but Wisconsin just dominated the Spartans on their home court. If I’m Wisconsin, I’m feeling confident today.
Arizona is the top team in the country for a reason and they always play well at home. As much as I want to pick the Badgers to win this game today, I just think the depth of this Arizona team will be the difference. Marquette and Michigan State didn’t have the depth the Wildcats have.
Regardless what happens today, this has been a successful run in the toughest part of the schedule for Wisconsin basketball. I think the Badgers keep it close, but the depth of Arizona prevails in the final six minutes.
